Quarantine Diary 9.1
(Another Day Goes By)

16 September 2020

And so another rotation of the Earth is complete - and one of the nicer time lapses so far.

Good cloud action. These look better watched full screen for all the little details and big vistas.

Also received this lovely unsolicited surprise from “Rachel and Michael” - some Haigh’s Chocolate frogs.

They arrived at my door unexplained.

Haigh’s is a much-lauded South Australian brand - at least among South Australians!

Facetime and Skype calls to home are obviously a highlight of the day, albeit a little homesickness inducing.

Look how cute Audrey is…

Though I must admit that Audrey doesn’t really acknowledge Facetime.

Our previous dog (Lulu the Greyhound) was much more attuned to hearing my voice on Facetime, and would lookbe simultaneously excited and confused when I called her name.

Audrey, who knows her name well, doesn’t acknowledge it through the phone speaker.

She is quite “phone oblivious”.

I also called back to England and spoke with Professor Poliakoff (after numerous technical issues and false starts)

We were discussing some remote filming and continuing production on Periodic Videos - stay tuned.

In addition to my usual daily check-ins (a police door knock and nurse phone call) I also had a call today from the South Australian mental health authorities.

It was a routine call, don’t worry!

It was a nice chat, but I opted out of a more elaborate survey after assuring them I was fine.

My nurse phone call was also fun - turned out she was from Zimbabwe (where my father spent his childhood), so we had a lovely and funny conversation!

Much of today was spent preparing, editing, and rendering the next Unmade Podcast and its companion video. More on that tomorrow.
